What is a venture studio?

A venture studio is a company that creates other companies. Instead of investing in founders who arrive with an idea, the studio comes up with the idea, builds the product and runs the business through its earliest stage.

That is different from a venture capital fund, which writes checks into companies other people run, and from an accelerator, which coaches outside teams for a few months. A studio does the work. At North Bay Ventures, the same small group writes the code, ships the product, answers support email and sets up billing.

What does North Bay Ventures build?

Three companies are live today:

  • Sandboxer gives AI agents and people their own cloud computers. Each sandbox is an isolated Ubuntu microVM that starts in a fraction of a second, can be paused with its memory and forked, and is billed per second. Learn more at sandboxer.com.
  • Transformer is the agentic influencer marketplace. Real creators, paid on verified posts. Run it from the dashboard or from your agent. Brands send offers to creators, pay only once a post is verified and track the clicks and sales each post drives. Learn more at transformer.gg.
  • Flagger.gg is feature flags for AI agents. Agents create, flip and roll back flags through MCP, the CLI and SDKs, with guardrails, an audit trail and human approval. Sign up at app.flagger.gg.

All three follow the same pattern: software that AI agents can use directly, through an API, a CLI or an MCP server, as easily as a person can use it through a website.

Why build companies this way?

Building software has become much cheaper and faster. A small team that uses AI agents well can now do work that used to take a large engineering department. The bottleneck has moved from writing code to picking the right problems, shipping quickly and getting the product in front of people.

A studio is built for that. Each new company starts on shared foundations, such as domains, email, payments, hosting and legal templates, so its team can spend its time on the product from day one. Lessons from one company carry over to the next. See how we build for the details.

Who runs North Bay Ventures?

North Bay Ventures was founded by Jon Oringer, who started Shutterstock in 2003 and led it as CEO through its listing on the New York Stock Exchange in 2012. The studio is run as a small team of builders, working alongside AI agents that handle a large share of the day-to-day engineering, support and operations.

Where is North Bay Ventures based?

The studio is based in Miami, Florida. Its companies serve customers worldwide over the internet. The legal entity behind North Bay Ventures and its companies is North Bay Opco I, Inc., a Delaware corporation, at 777 Brickell Ave, Suite 500 PMB 1074, Miami, FL 33131.
